parents of bride wedding venue family tradition

Some wedding traditions last for a day.

Others last for generations.

For Courtney and Lucas, their Spring wedding reception was more than a celebration. It marked a new chapter for the Spring wedding season at The Fez.

When Courtney and Lucas began planning their April 2026 wedding, their focus wasn’t just about finding a traditional wedding venue. Their selection carried even deeper meaning. It was about celebrating at a wedding venue that honors family history.

In February 1993, Courtney’s parents, Bob and Cindy, celebrated their wedding in the Balconade Room at The Fez. Thirty years later, Courtney and Lucas selected the very same room and kicked off Spring wedding season with a reception that connected the past to the present.

On their wedding day, a family tradition came full circle. A new chapter began for Courtney and Lucas, right where Bob and Cindy’s celebration started.

Why Family Wedding Traditions Matter

Wedding traditions are powerful. They connect generations through shared experiences. Many couples take pride in honoring family tradition with something borrowed, heirloom wedding attire, and cultural wedding ceremony customs.

For Courtney and Lucas, returning to The Fez meant celebrating their marriage in a space already woven into family history.

Something Old, Something New

While Courtney honored a wedding venue tradition, she and Lucas made the reception entirely their own. Their Spring wedding reception in the Balconade Room featured a romantic palette of sage green and soft blue. Photo backdrops and memory boards added the perfect balance of legacy and individuality, complementing the timeless feel of the room.

“That’s what makes traditional weddings so special,” said Debby Skowvron, Director of Catering, “they allow couples to honor the past while creating new memories of their own. We love welcoming back families every year to celebrate their wedding in the same space.”

A Celebration to Remember

From their bridal staircase entrance to the final song, Courtney and Lucas filled the Balconade Room with love and celebration. The room came alive with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt moments shared with family and friends.

Many guests understood the significance of celebrating in the same place as Courtney’s parents. That shared history gave the night even more meaning.

That’s the beauty of wedding traditions. They don’t just help us remember where we came from. They help create the memories future generations will cherish.

Their wedding reception turned into the best party they could have imagined.

From planning to execution, everyone at The Fez was absolutely amazing! Also, the food was 10/10, all our guests LOVED it!! Thank you so much for helping us plan the most perfect day.”

Creating a Wedding Legacy at The Fez

At The Fez, we’ve had the honor of hosting generations of families as they celebrate life’s biggest milestones. The best wedding traditions don’t end when the night is over. They carry forward.

Parents return with their children.

Children return to continue their own wedding traditions.

And families build legacies in the same wedding venue where their stories began.

That’s what makes weddings at The Fez so special. It’s more than a wedding reception location. It becomes part of the family story for generations.
